Hello FC Davis WPSL Team Members!
Welcome to our introduction page!
Here you will find everything you need to know about our organization, why we exist, and what you are becoming a part of.
We have an amazing summer planned for everyone and our community members are ecstatic to watch you hit the pitch for the very first time. We received an outpouring of messages about our new WPSL team and everyone is ready for the
home-opener on May 30th! This game will be a double header with our men's NPSL team and they are all bringing out drums, flares, flags and cowbells to watch you play!
FC Davis Women was created to give female players, such as yourself, an opportunity to play soccer during your college summer months and use the team as a platform to keep playing once you graduate college.
Women as whole are chronically underserved in sporting opportunities and soccer is no exception. We wanted to help change that.
The goal is to make this team about you, the players, tell your stories and inspire the youth players in our area to one day become an Lioness.
Below is some snapshots of the team!
What is the WPSL?
The WPSL is the world's largest soccer league. With over 130 clubs spanning from California to New York and everywhere in between, the WPSL has seen explosive growth the past decade in every corner of the country.
Players such as Alex Morgan, Megan Rapinoe and Abby Wambach all took the field for WPSL teams. Since options are extremely limited for female players, a crush of talent hits the fields every summer.
The WPSL will make it 23 years of exsitence this summer and continue to be a voice for the female game.
Who do we play?
FC Davis plays in the PAC Northwest Conference which resides in the Western Region of the WPSL. The teams in the Pac Northwest are the San Francisco Nighthawks, Sacramento Storm, San Ramon FC, MVLA, Pleasanton Rage, and Marin FC.
Each team will play each other home and away during the regular season.
Playoffs take place during the month of the July, concluding with the National Championship on July 25th.
When are the games?
All games take place on Wednesday, Friday, Saturday or Sunday. We try and limit Friday/Sunday splits, but due to the amount of games we have in such a short period of time, a couple weeks have two matches.
Where do we play?
All WPSL games take place at the same venue as our Men's team, Playfields in Davis. We dress up the field for all the fans that come to matches. From pizza and adult bevereges to a party tent and a supporters group, we got it all there!
When is training?
Training will take place once or twice a week depending on our game schedule.
Does it cost anything?
Unlike some WPSL program, FC Davis is completely free for our players.
