After a sold out 2019 tryout, FC Davis looks to continue adding local players to their ranks when 2020 tryouts commence.
Taking place on February 1st and 2nd in Davis, open tryout participants will hit the pitch fighting for a spot on the reigning Golden Gate Conference champions roster.
“We want to continue propping up players in our local community to give them a platform to achieve more,” said FC Davis head coach Mark Torguson. “Providing opportunities for local players is a pillar of our club and supports the culture we reinforce."
Last year over 60 players from 27 different towns took the field for two days of competition. After the dust settled, 15 players were chosen to take part in a scrimmage where final selections were made.
“We had a lot of talent out last year,” said Torguson. “We could have easily fielded an FC Davis second team and they would have done well in the conference."
With an league title defense, an expected US Open Cup bid and a team built for a deep playoff run, competition will be fierce come the beginning of February.
