OUR STORY

The Birth of FC Davis

In 2017, the FC Davis Project was launched to give our town a semi-pro soccer team we can call our own.

It seemed wild Davis didn’t have a team that represented the thousands of players in our community, and the club was on a mission to provide a home for the soccer fanatics that reside in our local area.

Of the initial goals of FC Davis, none were more important than creating a sustainable club in a transparent, open source manner. By doing so, the organization could serve as a template which could be replicated in towns such as Dixon, Woodland, Vacaville, West Sac and any other community that wants a club of their own. The more clubs, the more opportunity. The more opportunity, the better our landscape should be become.

Soon after our men’s team launched, we began our women’s team project to provide a home for the countless high level female players who compete in our local area. This effort was successful due to our Founding Member Team who brought the team to life.

With a successful men’s and women’s team under our umbrella, the club was able to launch community initiatives such as our internship program and FCD U, a program aimed to provide a home for community college players and hold them to a higher standard than what is currently offered at CCCAA schools.

In our first couple years, our NPSL side has won two conference titles, qualified for the US Open Cup, and have seen 3 players move onto the professional ranks.
