In 2019, FC Davis launched a bid to bring our town’s first ever women’s team to life. The wager was simple: Davis, a town full of soccer loving fans, needed a team they could call their own. To truly establish the identity of our town, the community would purchase memberships to help fund the team, run for board positions to operate the team, and create initiatives that would positively impact the youth and adult female players within our area.
FC Davis’ bid was successful and in 2020, the WPSL accepted the Lioness as an expansion team.
Only a couple months later, COVID-19 would reshape the world around us and pause the Lionesses inaugural season.
Entering the summer of 2021, signs are positive the team will be able to take the field in a safe, enjoyable experience for members of our community.
FC Davis Women are scheduled to take the field in June with a competition format that will be dependent on state guidelines.
Current COVID-19 restrictions on adult sports impose an adjacent county rule, which only allows competition with teams in neighboring counties. If this rule is lifted, a full WPSL regular season will commence. In the event California does not lift the adjacent county rule, an altered season format will take place.

When is the 2021 WPSL schedule going to be released?
Our 2021 WPSL schedule will be released in April or early May.
Are there any expansion teams for the 2021 season?
Yes! Three teams joined the conference this year: Bay Area FC (San Jose), Lamorinda (Moraga), and Diablo Valley Wolves (Concord).
Are fans allowed at matches?
Effective April 1st, outdoor sporting events can allow spectators at matches. Depending on the color tier of Yolo County fan attendance can range from 20 percent in the red tier, 33 percent in the orange tier, and 66 percent in the yellow tier.
Currently, Yolo country is in the orange tier.
How are game day tickets going to work this season?
FC Davis will have tickets available online and at the gate. Due to anticipated attendance limits, a reserved lot will be held for each category; walk-ups and online purchases.
Are there any Founding Memberships available?

When will a roster be released?
Our 2021 WPSL roster is scheduled to be released on May 10th!
Are there tryouts for 2021?
Due to COVID-19, FC Davis will not be conducting tryouts this season. Tryouts will resume in 2022.
