A six week haul of player announcements concluded and the inaugural FC Davis WPSL team roster is set.
The Lionesses are stacked full of local talent including twelve players from Davis, four players from Woodland, two sets of sisters and players representing twenty different universities.
While forming the inaugural roster, a commitment was made to provide our local area talent a home post high school.
This goal was met as local players fill the roster, such as 2019 National Champions Paige Rubinstein and Maya Doms from Stanford, while also including local budding collegiate stars such as FC Davis High School All-Area Girls Player of the Year Lily Byrne.
The first ever FC Davis WPSL home match was scheduled for May 30th against perennial powerhouse SF Nighthawks. However due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the WPSL regular season was cancelled.
Club activities for the Lionesses will begin this summer based around small group training sessions. Should the situation improve in California and local authorities permit, a home and away Causeway Clasico series will take place against the Sacramento Storm in mid-July.
